Pre & Post Treatment Care
These guidelines are for patients who have booked a practitioner-prescribed injectable procedure at Dr Tass Clinics. They are general in nature and do not replace advice provided by your treating practitioner.
Pre-Treatment Guidelines
To support comfort and minimise common treatment-related effects:
- Normal eating and hydration on the day of the appointment is recommended.
- Attendance with minimal or no makeup is preferred, as the treatment area may be cleansed prior to treatment.
- Where medically appropriate, consideration may be given to avoiding medicines and supplements that can increase bruising, including:
- Aspirin and anti-inflammatory medicines (such as ibuprofen), unless prescribed.
- Supplements such as fish oil/omega-3 and vitamin E.
- Prescribed blood-thinning medicines should not be stopped unless advised by the usual treating doctor.
- Alcohol is best avoided for 48 hours prior to treatment.
- Adequate time should be allowed before significant events or travel for swelling or bruising to settle.
Post-Treatment Guidelines
To support healing and comfort:
- Makeup application should be avoided for at least one hour following treatment.
- Vigorous exercise should be avoided for 24 hours.
- Alcohol should be avoided for 48 hours following treatment.
- Rubbing or pressure on treated areas should be avoided for 24 hours; prolonged pressure may need to be avoided for up to two weeks, if advised.
- Excessive heat exposure should be avoided, and sun protection used as recommended.
Where swelling or discomfort occurs, advice may be sought from a practitioner or pharmacist regarding suitable supportive measures.
What May Be Noticed

- Swelling, particularly within the first 24–48 hours.
