Fraxel Melbourne

Fraxel® Dual

This fractional laser treatment uses two different wavelengths — 1550 nm and 1927 nm — which can be selected individually or used together depending on the skin concern. Each wavelength targets a different depth in the skin, allowing for a customised approach to concerns such as pigmentation, sun damage, texture irregularities and signs of ageing.

The treatment works by delivering microscopic columns of energy into the skin while leaving surrounding tissue intact, which may assist with the skin’s natural renewal processes. This approach enables targeted treatment with controlled downtime.

Understanding the Two Wavelengths

1927 nm Wavelength
Targets the upper layers of the skin

May assist with:

• Pigmentation, sun spots and superficial discolouration

• Uneven tone and early signs of sun damage

• Fine surface texture and dryness

• Overall brightening of the skin

• Mild to moderate textural irregularities
This wavelength is ideal for individuals wanting improvement in surface-level concerns.

1550 nm Wavelength
Targets deeper layers of the skin

May assist with:

• More noticeable textural changes

• Fine lines

• Mild scarring or deeper irregularities

• Improving overall skin quality and supporting collagen renewal

• Longer-lasting rejuvenation effects
This wavelength is often chosen for clients seeking more intensive remodelling or deeper improvements.

Is This Laser Treatment Right for Me?

This treatment may be suitable for individuals who:
• Have concerns related to pigmentation, sun damage, tone, texture or fine lines

• Want a personalised treatment approach based on depth of concern

• Are comfortable with some downtime depending on the wavelength used

• Prefer a treatment that supports broader skin renewal
A consultation is essential, as not all skin types or conditions are appropriate candidates.

What Does the Treatment Involve?

Consultation & Assessment: Your clinician will assess your skin and discuss wavelength options, expected downtime and aftercare.

Preparation: The skin is cleansed and a topical anaesthetic will be applied.

Laser Treatment: The handpiece is passed evenly over the skin. A warm or prickling sensation is common.

Post-Treatment Care: Redness, heat and swelling are normal. Temporary bronzing or flaking may occur, especially after 1927 nm. You’ll receive a specific aftercare plan.

Downtime varies depending on the wavelength used and individual skin response.

What Results Can I Expect?

Results develop gradually as the skin renews over the following weeks to months. Improvements in tone, clarity and texture become more visible as the treated areas remodel. Outcomes vary depending on the wavelength used, number of sessions and individual skin characteristics.

Treatment Intervals

The number of sessions varies depending on the concern. Deeper or more stubborn issues may require multiple treatments.

For general maintenance and rejuvenation, many individuals opt for one treatment per year. Your clinician will recommend a tailored plan for your skin and goals.
